U18

The season typically starts at the beginning of September and ends mid-March.

Every effort will be made to form a U18 team in conjunction with Elk Valley Minor Hockey – dependent on sufficient registration numbers. Decision on the type of team to be formed at U18 will be made at the end of September once regional tryouts are completed. It is essential that players register early as late registrations will not factor in to our decisions on team formation. Every effort will be made to accommodate all players. This team will likely be either U18 Tier 4 or U18 Rec. It is possible that a combined U15/U18 Rec team may be created in order to accommodate the most players.

**Anyone wanting to play U18 rep hockey must attend the EK Tier 1 AA tryouts in August and the Cranbrook Bucks tryouts in September (registration deadline May 31, 2023).

Two ice times per week. Days and times will be decided prior to the beginning of each season when number of kids and number of teams are determined. Practices will alternate between Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford.

League play may involve travel to Creston, Cranbrook, Kimberley, Invermere, Golden, Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford and Whitefish, MT.

Away tournaments will be decided by coaches/managers/parents consensus. The cost for tournaments varies and is separate from the initial registration fees.

If it is possible, Fernie will host a home tournament for the U18 division if there are enough players to form a team. In this event, parents will be expected to volunteer for fundraising, concession, raffle table, 50/50 and score keeping.
