New to Hockey

Children born in 2005, 2006 and 2007 (must be turning 15, 16, or 17 on or before December 31, 2022)

The season typically starts at the beginning of September and ends beginning to mid-March.

Decision on the number and types of teams to be formed at U18 will be made at the end of June. All registrations after June 15, 2022 for U18 will be on an "as available" basis. Your player will be placed on a wait list while we determine if they can be accommodated into the planned team structures. Every effort will be made to accommodate all players.

Two ice times per week. Days and times will be decided prior to the beginning of each season when number of kids and number of teams are determined. Practices will alternate between Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford.

League play may involve travel to Creston, Cranbrook, Kimberley, Invermere, Golden, Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford and Whitefish, MT.

Away tournaments will be decided by coaches/managers and information forwarded to the parents as available. The cost for tournaments varies and is separate from the initial registration fees.

Fernie will host a home tournament for the U18 division if there are enough players to form a team. In this event, parents will be expected to volunteer for fundraising, concession, raffle table, 50/50 and score keeping.

If you are interested in volunteering as a team coach, please connect with Cody Wakeford at icecoordinatorfmh@gmail.com

If you are interested in volunteering as a team manager, please connect with your coach.

Coaches and managers will use TeamSnap to communicate to parents and players. Downloading this free app is recommended.

**If FMH and EVMH do not have sufficient player numbers to form a team, players will need to make arrangements to register in Cranbrook or other EK associations as available. Anyone wanting to play U18 rep hockey in an association outside of their own must attend the EK Tier 1 Zone tryouts in August.**
