15 - 17 yrs old by Dec 31 of the current hockey season

The season typically starts at the beginning of September and ends mid-March. Registration ends May 31.
Dependent on sufficient registration numbers, we will form one or more U18 teams in conjunction with Elk Valley Minor Hockey. The team will play in the EK U18 League which is typically a Tier 3/4 league with body checking.
The intention for 2026-27 is to form at least one carded team in Fernie. Final decisions on the type of team(s) to be formed at U18 will be made in mid-September once regional tryouts are completed. It is essential that players register early as late registrations will not factor in to our decisions on team formation. Every effort will be made to accommodate all players.
**Anyone wanting to play higher level (T1) U18 rep hockey must attend the EK Avalanche Tier 1 AA tryouts in August. They plan to form an EK regional U16 AA T1 team and a U18 AA T1 team, based out of Cranbrook and playing in Alberta AEHL.Contact ekzonelead@gmail.com for information on EK Avalanche tryouts.
Players from outside of Cranbrook are no longer eligible to try out for the U18 T3 Bucks unless their home association does not have a carded team.
Practice days and times will be decided prior to the beginning of each season when total number of teams are determined.
All our joint teams with Elk Valley MHA will have practices that rotate between Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford.
League play may involve travel to Creston, Cranbrook, Kimberley, Invermere, Golden, Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford and Whitefish, MT.
Away tournaments will be decided by coaches/managers/parents consensus. The cost for tournaments varies and is separate/additional from the initial registration fees.
Fernie Minor Hockey and Elk Valley Minor Hockey are volunteer-run organizations. Parents will be expected to volunteer for fundraising, concession, raffle table, 50/50 and score keeping.
