FMHA is a volunteer-run non-profit organization and we require all parents to volunteer in some form throughout the year. If you do not want to participate as a board member or a rostered volunteer, there are many additional jobs needed such as scorekeepers, timekeepers, penalty box attendants, jersey parents, fundraising. Also note, that every team will host a home tournament at which ALL parents are expected to volunteer their time. Remember "many hands makes light work"

  • A $50 non-refundable registration deposit is required to complete registration
  • Full fees are due by Sept 1, 2024. No player is permitted to go on the ice until registration fees are paid in full. Families are responsible for costs associated with equipment, travel, additional tournament fees and/or special events as determined by the team.

All players must register within their designated Hockey Canada divisions by birth year.

  • If you wish to make a request for your player to play above or below their designated age group, a written explanation must be submitted to the FMHA Board for review. There are strict criteria for allowing players to play outside of their designated divisions - please see the BC Hockey website or EKMHA website.
  • Initial plans for the number and types of teams to be formed at U13, U15 and U18 will be made at the end of June. Every effort will be made to accommodate all players but registrations after June 15 will not influence number of teams formed.
  • Any requests for late registration (after Aug 31) must be emailed to fernieminorhockey@gmail.com. Your player will be placed on a wait list while the board reviews final numbers of players and teams at each age group. *Please note that we are limited by Hockey Canada / BC Hockey in the maximum number of players we can roster on a team.
  • Late registrations will only be considered for recreational "house" teams. Rep tryouts will be completed by mid-September and require earlier registration. Absolutely no further late registration requests will be accepted after Dec 1st.
  • Any players wanting to participate in tryouts for Rep teams will receive separate communication regarding how to register for tryouts.
  • Any player who participates in Rep tryouts and subsequently withdraws from hockey is not eligible for any refund.
  • Players who wish to try out for the EK Avalanche AA T1 teams (U13-U18) and the Cranbrook Bucks T2/3 teams (U15-U18), must first register with their home association for insurance and residency  verification purposes. There will be a separate tryout fee and registration forms that must be completed prior to attending those tryouts (see CMHA website by May 31 and additional info will be sent out in June/July by the EK Zone Lead regarding that process).
  • Refund requests must be emailed to fernieminorhockey@gmail.com.
  • Up until August 31 100% of fees are refundable less the $50 deposit.

  • After December 1st there will be no refunds issued.
  • Exceptional circumstances may be reviewed at the discretion of the FMHA Board of Directors.
  • If a player withdraws, and then subsequently requests to re-register in the same season, this will be considered on a case by case basis. The full registration fee will apply, including the late fee. There must be space in the applicable team/age category.  There is no guarantee of an available team spot should a player withdraw and later request re-enrollment.
  • There will be no refunds at any time for any player that participated in a rep team tryout and subsequently decides not to play hockey.
  • Tryout fees are non-refundable once the tryouts have started.
